PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
WHAT IS PRP?
PRP Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) SOMETIMES CALL THE VAMPIRE FACIAL is commonly used by people desiring a chemical free application that utilises the body’s own natural healing potential to stimulate natural skin rejuvenation.
Renowned for its healing abilities in relation to treating soft tissue sporting injuries, Platelet Rich Plasma is a leading procedure in the field of skin rejuvenation.
PRP works by increasing collagen to thicken the skin and give a firmer, younger and more natural looking appearance.
PRP uses 100% of your own cells derived from your own blood (autologous), with no risk of allergy, spread of disease or rejection.
It is the concentrated part of the blood that contains the platelets. These platelets are re-injected into the skin to stimulate collagen and new skin cells.
Platelets are known to have many functions including; regeneration, rejuvenation and collagen production.
WHERE DOES PRP COME FROM
Your blood is rich in red blood cells, white blood cells and plasma. A blood sample of 10-20ml is taken and placed into a centrifuge to separate the blood, allowing us to extract the platelet rich plasma.
WHATS INVOLVED?
To obtain the PRP for your treatment, a small portion of your blood is taken and processed. This plasma is then injected into the deep dermis or fat layer of your skin. Results may take 2-3 weeks to become visible and a series of treatments is recommended.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
After the initial 2-3 treatments, a repeat treatment should be done within two years to maintain the skins appearance.
